Malibu California - Pepperdine University

Pepperdine University

During the early weeks of 2010, I traveled “here and there” to visit some interesting locations. In February, I visited Pepperdine University, whose hillside campus in Malibu, California, overlooks the Pacific Ocean.  This is recognized to be one of the most beautiful college campuses in the United States.  I was there to see the basketball game between Pepperdine and Gonzaga Universities.

Gonzaga University
Gonzaga is a Jesuit college located in Spokane, Washington, and is named after Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, a 16th century Italian.

Pepperdine is named after its founder, George Pepperdine, whose great wealth came from The Western Auto Corporation, a business he began when he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1909.  On this occasion, the saint triumphed over the tycoon because Gonzaga beat Pepperdine by 72 to 54.
